What is impartiality?

Impartiality means presence of objectivity. In this context objectivity is understood to mean that conflicts of interest do not exist, or are resolved so as not to adversely influence the activities of the certification body.

 

How does ESL ensure impartiality of its certification services?

Preservation of our impartiality is the foundation of ESL’s ability to guarantee trust, confidence and value for the services offered to the clients. ESL Certification actively analyses potential risks due to conflict of interests that pose a threat to impartiality.

To meet the expectations of our Clients, ESL:

  1. Ensures and demonstrates its impartiality to interested parties and clients.
  2. Does not offer or provide any consultancy service related or linked to the scope of accredited certification activity to any of the clients.
  3. Ensures that decisions regarding the certification activities are exclusively made based on objective evidence and on an independent manner.
  4. Ensures that the requirements for certification and supervision processes are limited to the scope of certification.
  5. Obliges all employees to officially inform ESL Management about their relationships with any clients as well as any attempts to exert pressure, which may affect the outcome of the certification process.
  6. Has an organizational structure that ensures impartiality.
  7. Does not design, manufacture, install, distribute or maintain any certified product.
  8. Does not offer or provide, to its clients, any consultancy on management system or internal auditing.
  9. Responds efficiently to any identified threat regarding impartiality.
  10. Ensures that all the activities of its subcontractors do not jeopardize the confidentiality, impartiality or credibility of ESL’s activities.
  11. Conducts business transparently.
